Learning Systems Support Specialist, #18-054

St. Charles Community College

St. Charles Community College is seeking a full-time Learning Systems Support Specialist who will be responsible for current LMS (Canvas) implementation and ongoing support; and provide assistance with instructional design.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

Responsible for course cleanup and the reorganization of online and hybrid courses.

Assists as needed with cleaning up files in courses (outdated files, test banks, and file management). Utilizes different tools in Canvas LMS.

Imports course content and test banks.

Addresses course design issues, working with both instructional designers and faculty (when appropriate).

Creates and analyzes Canvas reports for Deans and Department Chairs.

Provides faculty support by taking Canvas questions via email, phone, and face-to-face.

Assists with developing and conducting Canvas training sessions for faculty and staff.

Actively stays current with Canvas updates and release notes and third-party integrations.

Assists in the design, development, and creation of a new online learning website.

Responds to Canvas help trouble calls through an online ticket system facilitated through the campus Help Desk.

Assists Help Desk and faculty with new LMS user interface additions and changes.

Creates videos on common solutions to problems in Canvas.

Proofs online/hybrid courses (e.g. links, settings, and quiz banks) prior to courses going live.

Assists faculty in cleaning up HTML pages to Word documents and Google documents that they need to post in their course(s).

Creates online course information in dotCMS, Colleague, and SCC Connection.

Bachelor's degree required, preferably in the area of multimedia, technology, instructional design, or computer science; and at least one year of related experience and/or training.

Experience with the following is preferred:

Taking online classes

Microsoft Office 2016/365

Using and navigating an LMS, preferably Canvas

Online course design models and theory

Accessibility requirements

Quality assurance standards for online and hybrid courses

Instructional technology tools such as Adobe CC, Respondus, SoftChalk, lecture capture software, Snag It, Captivate, HTML or others are also a plus

HOURS: Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (flexible)
