The Instructional Technology Council's mission is to provide exceptional leadership and professional development to its network of eLearning experts by advocating, collaborating, researching, and sharing exemplary, innovative practices and potential in learning technologies. ITC tracks federal legislation that will affect distance learning, conducts annual professional development meetings, supports research, and provides a forum for members to share expertise and materials.

ITC offers single institutions and multi-campus districts; regional and statewide systems of community, technical and two-year colleges; for-profit organizations; four-year institutions; and, non-profit organizations that are interested or involved in instructional telecommunications the following benefits of membership.

ITC has surveyed and reported on the state of distance education at ITC-member institutions for the past five years. ITC has mailed a free copy of this report to ITC members, community college presidents, and inserted a copy into the participant bag of attendees at the AACC annual convention.

ITC awards outstanding individuals and institutions in distance education based upon the nominations of its members. Both national and regional contributions to the field are considered. See ITC Awards for Excellence in Distance Learning - Winners 1991-2011.
