A challenge faced by online graduate students who are also in-service teachers is to complete the field experience hours required by their degree plans. This action research explored the effectiveness of an online field experience, which was tested in a globalized teacher education setting.

Supporting the 21st Century Effects of Music Performance With Technology

It is possible through high school band to prepare students for the 21st Century under authentic assessment guidelines through the use of technology in the music performance curriculum. The combination of music performance and technology helps students gain more experience working with useful contemporary skills, reinforcing them regularly and being prepared for successful contribution in the workforce on a daily basis. This fusion can help bridge the gap of understanding through common use of technology and authentic assessment, while giving students experience with 21st Century skills that they need to be competitive in their future.
