About ITC Leadership Academy

Planning for the future and motivating a team to join you along the way are the hallmarks of a successful leader. Incorporating scenario-based experiences under the guidance of nationally-recognized eLearning champions, the ITC 2021 Distance Education Leadership Academy will build on the American Association of Community College's six designated leadership competencies to expand your leadership skills. Participants will return to their schools with an individual learning and leadership plan!

Format

The 2021 virtual Leadership Academy will be a blend of Live stream sessions (twice/week for three weeks) as well as online/asynchronous readings and discussions.

  • Each of the 6 sessions will include:
    • Reading or video assignments prior to the session
    • A brief overview/summary of the focus area
    • Small, focused breakout sessions
    • Report out and debrief of key observations
    • Post-session assignment for the individualized leadership plan

Additional asynchronous work may occur within the LMS each week to connect focus areas with current topics or scenario-based discussions.

As the country slowly re-opens and we begin our transition back to more and more in-person activities, decisions that impact leadership roles are evolving weekly, daily, and even hourly. The ITC Leadership Academy will incorporate relevant discussion topics into the curriculum to support participants in developing a leadership plan that is reflective of their current reality.

Schedule

Each session will be 90 minutes and run from 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM PDT / 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM EDT on the following dates:

  • Tuesday, July 27th and Wednesday, July 28th
  • Tuesday, August 3rd and Wednesday, August 4th
  • Tuesday, August 10th and Wednesday, August 11th

Final Deliverable 

  • Capstone project - An Individualized Leadership Plan

To Apply

The ITC will select a group of up to 20 distance learning leaders to participate in its 2021 Distance Education Leadership Academy. The application deadline is June 25, 2021.

Letter of Nomination & Explanation Required

Applicants must include a letter of nomination from his or her institution and a one-page explanation what he or she would like to gain through participation with their fellow academicians. At the end of the online application, you will be given directions regarding where to send both the nomination and explanation.

 Registration Prices and Process

  • ITC Members = $500
  • Non-Members = $950 (Includes  first year institutional, associate, or consortial office membership) or $625 (includes individual membership)

ITC will send an invoice to each participant chosen to participate in the 2021 Distance Education Leadership Academy.
