How to Submit Articles
Anyone may submit an article to be considered for publication in the Journal provided they own the copyright to the work or are authorized by the copyright owner(s) to submit the article. Prior publication must be disclosed. Authors retain copyright and permission to republish but grant ITC a perpetual use derivative works license and authorize online publication in the Journal and such other uses as may benefit the membership of the ITC.

Research involving human subjects must have been approved by the authors' institutional review board (IRB) or equivalent and such approval must be clearly disclosed.

  • Target audience should include instructional designers, online instructors, and distance education administrators in higher education, preferably (but not exclusive to) community colleges. 
  • Abstracts of approximately 200 words
  • Main text of approximately 3,500-5,500 words are recommended but shorter works will be considered.  Works of longer than 6,000 words are unlikely to be reviewed.
  • Tables and figures are encouraged and should be included inline with the text, not separate
  • About the author(s) of approximately 150 words
  • APA style required

  • Future Trends in Distance Education: VR/AR learning environments, adaptive learning, and lifelong learning models.
  • Gamification and Interactive Learning: Applying game elements to boost engagement and motivation.
  • Instructional Design for E-Learning: Designing effective courses using frameworks like ADDIE or SAM.
  • Learning Analytics and Data-Driven Education: Using data to improve student outcomes and personalize learning.
  • Microlearning and Modular Course Design: Breaking content into small, digestible learning units.
  • Online Learning Pedagogy: Best practices for teaching and engaging students in virtual environments.
  • Professional Development and Training: Programs for onboarding, new technologies, or enhancing skills in distance education
  • Student Engagement and Retention Strategies: Building community and reducing dropout rates in virtual programs.

Fall 2026 Issue Timeline | Now Accepting Submissions

  • Friday, August 30th 2026 is the deadline to submit your articles.
  • Peer Review will take place between September 14th through 18th.Our peer review board consists of faculty from Kean University, along with ITC board members. 
  • Writers will be notified of acceptance or acceptance with revisions the week of September 21st. 
  • Writers will have until Friday October 9th to make revisions.
  • The fall issue will be published on Monday, November 2nd.
